Registration is open for a new bike ride fundraiser benefiting Opportunity Village in Fort Dodge and surrounding communities.
The inaugural Pedal for a Purpose will be held June 18 at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. Registration starts at 12 p.m. followed by the bike ride at 1 p.m. Riders will have the option to bike a short route or complete the full 20-mile route. A route map is available at www.PedalForAPurposeIowa.org.
Food and beverages will be available during and after the ride. Door prizes also will be awarded.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Opportunity Village, a nonprofit organization that provides services for more than 600 individuals with disabilities in 30 Iowa communities including Fort Dodge (Northwoods Living and Northwoods Products & Services), Webster City, Eagle Grove and Humboldt.
Registration for Pedal for a Purpose is $20 per person until 8 a.m. May 31. Early registrants are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Following that time, the cost increases to $25. Children can participate at no cost. Registration will be available at the event.
The event is sponsored by Valero, Webster Glass, Mike's Pest Control, Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota, Shimkat Motors, and 2Trees Design.
