"The fruit of sharing life with people at the Village has yielded friendships so rich and deep and takes my breath away. If you are looking for purpose in your life, look no further. Get involved and make a friend at Opportunity Village!" -Ann Longobardi
Volunteer. Be a friend. Donate your time, resources, or a financial gift. No matter how you choose to give back, the 47th annual Benefit Walk for Opportunity Village is a time to learn how to get involved with our organization.
Join us at our signature fundraiser on Sept. 10 and 11 to support the Village and learn about the role you play in enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities. Gather a team of family, friends, or co-workers to walk around City Park in Clear Lake and City Square Park in Fort Dodge.
The walk will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Registration will begin prior to the walk and will be held in City Park. During registration, enjoy music and special "get involved" stations, where you can learn how to be a part of Opportunity Village and its mission.
Walkers should create their own personal FirstGiving page at www.opportunityvillagebenefitwalk.org and set a fundraising goal. All walkers are encouraged to raise funds before attending the Benefit Walk. Walkers also are encouraged to start a team page on FirstGiving, which allows you to track your team's fundraising progress.
Once pages are set up, share them with families and friends, post to social media, and share the link with your loved ones, asking them to sponsor you through a financial donation.
Want to raise money offline? Pick up sponsorship packets at Tried & True in Mason City (located in Willowbrook Mall), the Village General Stores in Clear Lake and Fort Dodge, or by contacting Jennifer Pinske at 641-355-1356 or Gordon Peterson at 641-355-1247.
All funds raised through the Benefit Walk will be used toward services for individuals with disabilities. More information about the walk and Opportunity Village is available at www.oppvill.org.
BEFORE THE WALK
Join us before the walk for our inaugural Appreciation Picnic, where we pay tribute to our hardworking staff and valued families, friends, and community members. The picnic begins at 11 a.m. in City Park in Clear Lake and City Square Park in Fort Dodge. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a delicious catered lunch with friends!
AFTER THE WALK
Stick around following the walk! At both locations, we will have a variety of games for adults and families, as well as live music.
